JEE Main 2027: dates, deadlines and how the form works
By Shaurya Yadav. Last updated 5 November 2026.
I'm preparing for JEE 2027 too, and exam dates get copied around the internet with mistakes. So this page only uses NTA's own notices, linked at the bottom. NTA says its calendar dates are tentative and can change, so check its website before you rely on them.
Session 1 (January 2027) dates
- Application form: 24 October to 22 November 2026, up to 11:50 PM. The fee must also be paid by then.
- Late application, with a late fee of ₹500: 23 to 26 November 2026, up to 11:50 PM.
- Correcting details in the form: 27 to 29 November 2026, up to 11:50 PM.
- Exam city announced: 30 December 2026.
- Admit cards: 13 January 2027.
- Exam: 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28 January 2027.
Session 2 (April 2027)
NTA's calendar proposes 2 to 7 April 2027. Session 2 has its own application window and NTA says a separate notification will come later. If you applied for Session 1, you can use the same Application Number for Session 2. You can also skip Session 1 and register only for Session 2 when that form opens.
What the exam looks like
Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) is a computer-based test with 75 questions: 25 each in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. In each subject, Section A has 20 multiple-choice questions and Section B has 5 questions answered with a number. Both sections have negative marking for wrong answers.
There are two shifts: 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM India time. The exam is offered in 13 languages. Paper 1 is also the eligibility test for JEE Advanced.
Before you fill in the form
- Log in with your own DigiLocker, JanParichay or e-Pramaan (MeriPehchaan) account, not a parent’s or friend’s. NTA warns that using someone else’s can cause identity and biometric problems later.
- NTA advises doing Re-KYC through DigiLocker first, so your latest details are fetched.
- Your name and date of birth must match your Class 10 certificate or mark sheet exactly.
- Read the Information Bulletin on the NTA site for the exact rules on photographs, signatures and documents.
If you made a mistake
If you only need to change certain details, wait for the correction window (27 to 29 November 2026). That is what NTA advises.
NTA also allows a fresh form, even if you have already paid. But your earlier fee is neither refunded nor adjusted, you get a new Application Number, and you must upload everything again. Only the last form with the fee paid and the Confirmation Page generated counts. If you do not finish the fresh form, your earlier completed form stays valid.
You can only sit each session once. Appearing, or trying to appear, under more than one Application Number is treated as Unfair Means. Just holding more than one number, without using them to appear, is not.
